Dinosaur Movie News for Last Month : Jurassic Park without Dinosaurs and a Zombie T-Rex

Dinosaur, meet zombie
A potential new film called Z-Rex: Jurassic Apocalypse is raising money on Indigogo and features Zombie dinosaurs. While the theme may seem outlandish, it certainly diversifies the genre.

Jurassic World 2 coming along
The film is in the works to be released in June 2018 according to Moviepilot due the success of Jurassic World (2015). Moviepilot and Parent Herald report the film will not include a theme park setting, deviating from the Jurassic series. Claire (the lead female character of Jurassic World (2015)) will likely lead and dinosaur soldiers might be the focus.

The Good Dinosaur making up ground
Although The Good Dinosaur (2015) was underwhelming in terms of revenue at the box office and losing the Oscar race for best animated feature to Inside Out (2015) Variety reports that has led the DVD and Blu ray sales and Entertainment.com reports it is now also leading streaming movie rentals.
Cobragator!
Io9 reports Roger Corman is producing another film in his series of giant prehistoric monsters. Not much has been released yet but it is expected to find a cult following as Corman is working with director Jim Wynorski, who produced cult movies such as Dinocroc vs. Supergator (2010) and Chopping Mall (1986).

Jurassic Park Minus Jurassic
Imagine Jurassic Park (1993) without dinosaurs. That exactly what Vidsplode did and it’s getting attention and folks reacting, like Cinema Blend.

Dinosaurs in the outback
Melbourne Museum (Australia) has opened a Jurassic World exhibit to showcase life-sized animatronic dinosaurs. See the article by the Brisbane Times which includes pictures and videos of the setup.

Unproduced Jurassic Park sequel – before Jurassic World
Indiewire interviewed director John Sayles on his career. Sayles, a past collaborator with Roger Corman, wrote a sequel for Jurassic Park (1993).  In the interview Sayles notes “ there were a couple ideas that I had been handed […]  But they could probably shoot the script that I wrote today and it would different enough from what they did make.”

News above covers from February 4th  to March 4th, 2016. For more on dinosaur movies see our dinosaur movie rankings.
